A catch-all email mailbox receives messages sent to inactive email addresses under the exact same domain name. For instance, an email sent to the miswritten suport@domain.com will be delivered to support@domain.com if the catch-all feature has been activated for the latter. In this way, you can get emails from colleagues or clients who may have sent a message to your email address with a spelling mistake or to an old one, which they may still have, but you have already deleted. Just one single mailbox per domain name can be a catch-all one and email forwarding cannot be activated for such a mailbox. The latter is due to the fact that at a certain point you may start receiving spam email messages in the catch-all mailbox and the forwarding limitation means that the spam will not be delivered to a 3rd-party mailbox.
Catch-all Emails in Hosting
If you host a domain on our cloud hosting platform and you’ve got a hosting account, you will be able to activate the catch-all functionality for any mailbox that you set up under the domain name. The Email Manager section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel comes with quite a lot of functions, but it is very intuitive, so configuring a catch-all mailbox takes only a single click of the mouse. All the email addresses that you’ve set up will be shown in this section in alphabetical order and you’ll only have to click on the "Catch-all" button pertaining to the respective address. Our system will notify you if there is already another catch-all mailbox activated for that domain or if the one that you want to be a catch-all mailbox has email forwarding enabled, so you can either turn off the latter feature or pick another mailbox. Deactivating the catch-all feature is just as simple and requires yet another mouse click on the very same button.
